£36,000 for injured tenant provided with negative advice
Ms Q suffered shoulder and knee injuries as a result of tripping on a wet log outside of her rented home.
She initially instructed a national personal injury firm to represent her. Following investigating for a period of time the firm advised her that, unfortunately, it was not possible to identify the correct defendant to pursue.
Having lost faith in that firm Ms Q made alternative enquiries and approached Aston Knight Solicitors who accepted a file transfer and shortly thereafter succeeded in identifying the correct defendant, being the landlord of the area in which she fell.
A claim was then submitted to the defendant’s insurers who admitted liability. Aston Knight then obtained expert evidence to support the claim from: a knee specialist, a shoulder specialist and a psychological expert before ultimately negotiating a settlement of £36,000.
Ms Q was very pleased, commenting:
“Thank you so much for all of your hard work James! It is very much appreciated and from the start to the end you have been patient and helpful in keeping me up to speed on the case. Thank you.”
Mr Ayoub Khan, Managing Director, adds:
“Cases such as this exemplify the difference between a positive and pro-active approach such as adopted by our firm and a negative, somewhat defeatist, perspective on the part of the predecessor firm. We will always do everything possible to succeed and press for the maximum achievable settlement.”
