£175,000 recovered for Injured Factory Operative Following an Accident at Work
Aston Knight Solicitors recovered £175,000 for our client, Ms Q, who suffered a serious knee injury whilst at work. The Defendant Company was and is in the business of production and sale of chocolate and chocolate related products. At the time of her accident, Ms Q was walking through the factory when she tripped on exposed cables causing her to fall to the ground and suffer an injury.
Ms Q sustained a ruptured ACL ligament in her knee and some other minor injuries. A medical report was obtained by a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon. The medical expert was of the opinion Ms Q will continue with permanent symptoms in her knee and these will continue to impact her ability to work as a factory operative; specifically, tasks such as crouching, standing for longer periods. The medical expert considered she would likely face difficulties with factory-type and other manual work in the future and will likely be restricted to more sedentary roles.
Court proceedings were brought and the matter settled before trial in the sum of £175,000. Commenting on the case, our Managing Director Ayoub said: “This outcome is a significant victory for the client, who faced numerous challenges due to the employer’s neglectful practices. Despite the Defendant being a major international corporation, they overlooked fundamental measures to safeguard employees’ well-being, leading to several injuries. Initially reluctant to provide fair compensation, the Defendant eventually agreed to a substantial settlement of £175,000 after persistent negotiation. The client was overjoyed with the result”.
