£57,500 Recovered for Serious Injuries Sustained in Road Traffic Accident
We recently secured a settlement of £57,500 for our client, Mrs V, who suffered serious physical and psychological injuries as a result of a road traffic accident.
Mrs V was stationary on a main road when her vehicle was struck with significant force from behind by another driver. The impact was so severe that her vehicle was propelled across the opposite carriageway and into a brick wall, resulting in extensive damage and serious personal injury.
As a result of the accident, Mrs V sustained multiple injuries including damage to her lower back and both shoulders. These injuries were severe enough to require surgical intervention. In addition to her physical injuries, she also experienced substantial psychological trauma and was later formally diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Mrs V also suffered financially, having been forced to take time off work during her recovery. On returning to work, she faced a temporary adjustment to her role which led to a loss of earnings—an important aspect of the claim.
Our team acted quickly to secure an early admission of liability from the defendant, which allowed us to focus on building a strong medical and financial case in support of Mrs V’s claim. We obtained expert medical reports from an Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in upper limb injuries and a Consultant Psychiatrist to assess the full extent of both her physical and psychological injuries.
Although the defendant made several early offers, these did not reflect the full extent of Mrs V’s pain, suffering, and financial loss. Based on our legal advice, she rightly rejected the offers.
Understandably, Mrs V was anxious about the possibility of attending court. We took the time to fully reassure her, explaining the legal process and ensuring she felt supported throughout. At all times, our goal was to minimise her stress while maximising the outcome of her case.
Through robust and strategic negotiation, we were ultimately able to secure a significantly improved offer of £57,500, which Mrs V accepted. She was relieved not only by the outcome but also that she would no longer be required to attend court.
Annie Rana, the solicitor who handled the case, commented:
“Mrs V endured a deeply traumatic experience that impacted her physically, emotionally, and financially. We are pleased to have secured a result that not only fairly compensated her for everything she went through but also provided a sense of closure. At Aston Knight Solicitors, our priority is always to support our clients through difficult times and ensure they feel heard, understood, and protected every step of the way.”
