£51,000 global settlement for man abandoned by local firm

Mr N was initially represented by a local Bury firm who advertise heavily for personal injury work in the Bury area.

When the Defendant insurance company filed a Defence accusing him of bringing a dishonest claim, the firm decided to immediately close his file, leaving him alone in court proceedings without a solicitor.

He approached solicitor James Winterbottom of Aston Knight Solicitors who, after taking the time to listen to his explanations for the alleged dishonesty, agreed to take on the case.  Whilst the case had been left in a very poor state, after investigating further and obtaining helpful witness evidence, James was ultimately able to turn the case around despite the Defendants continuing to defend their position and deny liability. Following a period of negotiations we were able to negotiate a total settlement of £51,000 to include legal costs.
