£16,000 for a cyclist injured in a road traffic accident
Mr U was injured when he was knocked off his bicycle resulting in him suffering multiple soft tissue injuries and psychological injury. His bicycle was also damaged beyond economical repair and a cash in lieu payment was claimed to cover the cost of the replacement.
Mr U was understandably traumatised by this experience, especially given the fact that he was a vulnerable road user and his injuries could have been a lot worse.
Whilst the insurer’s enquiries were underway, we arranged for Mr U to be medically examined with two different medical experts and the insurers eventually agreed to deal with the claim in full. In addition, they put forward a pre-medical which was rejected as per our advice.
Once all the medical evidence had been finalised and served on the insurers, they were invited to make an offer to settle. Court proceedings were issued upon the insurers making an offer which was not capable of acceptance and following negotiations with the solicitors acting behalf of the insurers, we were pleased to secure a settlement in the sum of £16,000 which Mr U was happy to accept and upon accepting the offer he expressed in his feedback as follows;
